BREEDERS CHAMPIONS CUP SUCCESS FOR FUTURA

11 March 2024

Drakenstein Stud’s high-class sire Futura made news at Borrowdale Park on Sunday when his daughter Dindingwe won the Listed Breeders Champions Cup for Debra Swanson and Jeffrey Syster.

Zimbabwe’s Champion 2YO of 2019-2020, the durable Dindingwe claimed the 11th win of her career when she romped home to a three-length win in Sunday’s 2000m contest.

Sunday’s win was Dindingwe’s fifth black-type victory overall, with the mare having finished second over 2000m last time out.

Bred by the Ndoro Stud, Dindingwe is out of the Jallad mare Miss Delish.
She was one of seven stakes winners to have emerged from her four-time G1 winning sire’s first crop, with Futura’s first crop of runners also including G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe hero Nourbese, G2 Track And Ball Oaks winner Pink Tourmaline, G3 Poinsettia Stakes queen Vihaan’s Pie, and G3 World Sports Betting Variety Club Mile hero Warrior.

Also the sire of Equus Champion Future Pearl and this season’s G3 Glorious Goodwood Chairman’s Cup winner Future Swing, Futura has an outstanding draft on offer at the National Yearling Sale, with his lots on offer including a colt (Lot 169) out of a dual G1 winning daughter of Dubawi, a colt (Lot195) out of a G3 winning daughter of Jet Master, a half-brother (Lot 349) to this season’s G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas winner Snow Pilot and a half-brother (Lot 372) to multiple G1 winner See It Again.
